ALPHA FREQUENCY #758 - RONGOĀ AND MANA ATUA: HOLISTIC HEALING

Holistic Well-Being

When we talk about healing in our modern society, we often think of it as a physical process, fixing a broken bone or curing a virus. In many Western theological traditions, the "gifts of healings" are viewed as supernatural interventions for physical ailments. While this is true, our Māori worldview offers a much broader and more integrated perspective on what it means to be well.

Health, or hauora, is a holistic state that involves the deep interrelationship of mind, body, spirit, and place. We understand that you cannot truly heal the body without also addressing the spirit and the land it belongs to. By recognising this connection, we move away from the mistake of seeing the world as separate, disconnected pieces and embrace the truth that everything is woven together.

Restoring The Vital Spark

Through our lens, healing is essentially the restoration of mauri, the vital life force that binds our physical and spiritual existence. When Wairua Tapu (the Holy Spirit) exercises the gift of healing through a believer, it is a form of rongoā, or spiritual remedy, that addresses the root cause of an ailment.

THE ALPHA FREQUENCY #725 - STRIPPING THE LAYERS: IDENTIFYING THE DECEPTIONS THAT HINDER HAUORA

Identifying the Distractions

Kia ora, whānau. Today we conclude our series on the Gospel in Taitokerau by looking at the "distractions" that keep us from our true potential. Yeshua was a master at cutting through the noise, and today we are using His "Alpha Frequency" to strip back the colonial layers that hinder our Hauora (wellbeing).

In Taitokerau today, a central value of the Gospel is its role in identifying deceptions that hinder our abundance and Hauora. These deceptions are often deeply embedded in the "layers of misunderstanding" caused by colonisation. Yeshua taught that "the truth will set you free" (John 8:32), but to find that freedom, we must first name the "static" that is blocking our signal.

The Myth of Homogeneity

One major deception is the representation of Māori as a single, homogeneous group. This devalues the unique Mana and tribal sovereignty of our diverse hapū. Dominant power structures have historically simplified our identity to maintain control. By stripping this layer away, we reclaim the "multiplicity" and higher-order knowledge (kauae runga) that was once forced underground.

THE ALPHA FREQUENCY #723 - TE ORANGA AKE: HOLISTIC FLOURISHING AND WHĀNAU RESTORATION

More Than a Message: A Living Oranga

Kia ora, whānau. Today we are looking at the goal of the Gospel in Taitokerau: Te Oranga Ake. Yeshua didn't come to start a "civilising" mission or a new religion; He came to restore the "whole person" and the whole whānau to a state of total flourishing.

In Taitokerau, the relevance of the Gospel is found in its power to be a "dynamic, lived experience" rather than a static theory. Yeshua described His mission as bringing life "to the full," which we understand as Te Oranga Ake, holistic flourishing.

This isn't just about spiritual ideas; it’s about Hauora (wellbeing) that touches every part of our lives: physical, social, economic, and spiritual. In the North, where we face systemic lags in income and employment, Yeshua’s message offers a spiritual critique of structures that prioritise extraction over regional health.

The Whare as a Model for Healing

We see Te Oranga Ake in action through kaupapa like Te Whare Ruruhau o Meri. They use the "whare" (house) as a model for whānau dynamics to address deep issues like family violence. By reconnecting whānau with their wairuatanga (spirituality) and whakapapa, they create a pathway for healing from the traumas of colonisation.

THE ALPHA FREQUENCY #721 - DECOLONISING THE GOOD NEWS: FROM IMPERIAL TOOL TO INDIGENOUS LIBERATION

Stripping the Colonial Layers

Kia ora, whānau. Today we are starting a deep dive into how the message of Yeshua actually works in Taitokerau. For too long, the "Gospel" was used as a tool for colonisation, but when we look at the actual words of Yeshua, we see they are the keys to our liberation and our Hauora (wellbeing).

The history of the North is complex. While Christianity was sometimes used as a tool of imperial expansion, our ancestors in Ngāpuhi and Te Rarawa rapidly indigenised the message because it spoke to their own spiritual reality. The early missionaries often brought a "civilising" mission, but Yeshua’s direct teaching was never about assimilation into European culture; it was about life.

Yeshua said: "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). This "full life" is what we call Te Oranga Ake, the holistic flourishing of the whānau.

Whanaungatanga: The Core of the Message

One reason the Gospel resonated so deeply in the north is that Yeshua’s parables and virtues fit perfectly with traditional Māori life. His message is built on Whanaungatanga, the fundamental truth that everything in the world is genealogically and biologically connected.
