REFLECTIVE INSIGHT #044 - GETTING BACK TO THE SOURCE: A SPIRITUAL REVIVAL IS COMING TO OUR LAND

A Collective Stirring

There is a quiet, steady feeling growing in the atmosphere here in Taitokerau. It is not something being "run" by any one person or organisation, but rather a movement coming together through the collective intent of our whānau. I believe we are seeing the start of a spiritual revival, one that is less about religious labels and more about getting back to the pure source of life for the wellbeing of our people and our land. As this heart-felt change grows in the North, I believe it will naturally move South, carrying a message of hope to the rest of the country.

Leaving the Leaky Bucket

For too long, we have lived under a system that treats everything as separate, disconnected parts. In our research, we identify this as a "Babylonian" way of operating, which acts like a "Leaky Bucket" for our region. It extracts our energy, our talent, and our resources, and exports them elsewhere, leaving our communities feeling drained. But a collective shift is happening as people begin to choose Te Ōhanga Mauri, an economy that prioritises the binding life force, or Mauri, of all things.

Te Ōhanga Mauri is the pathway to realising Te Whenua Taurikura, which simply means a thriving, prosperous land. This isn't a top-down plan, it is a restoration of our original way of being where we recognise that we are all entangled and connected. If you feel drawn to join this collective movement, there are a few humble steps we can take in our own lives to prepare.

Recharging Our Batteries

The first step is to look after your own holistic wellbeing. We cannot contribute to a collective revival if our own batteries are flat. In what we call the "Sacred Order" of a healthy life, we must first ensure we are safe and that our wairua is topped up with joy. This "Mauri Ora" state is a thermodynamic necessity, it gives us the energy to move from being "Static Subjects" to "Universal Constructors" who can help shape a better future.

Taking time to rest and recharge is not about being idle, it is about preparing for the season ahead. When our battery is full, we are better equipped to handle the work of "fixing the soil" in our communities.

Sharing the Truth

The next step involves honing the skills needed for the revival process itself, which is really about taking the truth of our connection back to the people. We need our storytellers and performers to share this "Good Explanation" of who we are. This includes our singers and dancers, but just as importantly, the lighting and sound technicians who help the message be seen and heard clearly. These technical and creative gifts are essential tools for sharing the truth in a way that resonates with the heart.

Deepening Our Bonds

We also need the skills of whanaungatanga, which are the heart of our connection to one another. This includes the art of hospitality, showing genuine care for a stranger, and practical skills like first aid. When we look after each other in these ways, we are building what we call an "Economic Pā", a circular, safe space where wealth and care stay within the community.

These acts of connection are not just "nice to have," they are the physical law of entanglement in action. By weaving these bonds tighter, we stop the "leaks" in our social fabric and ensure everyone has a place to belong.

Seeking the Source

Finally, I encourage you to get your life right with God. I am not here to tell you what that means for your specific journey, as we are all walking our own path with the Wairua Tapu. However, I believe that when we talk to the Creator and listen for a reply, we find the "Deep Spirit" that guides our intent.

As we align our personal signals with this pure source, the "Semantic Entropy" or confusion of the world begins to fade away. We gain the clarity to see the abundance that has always been there, waiting for us to observe it. Let us pray for one another as we move together toward this ancestral future.
