THE WOVEN UNIVERSE #908 - DATA LAYERS OF THE HEAVENS: THE THREE BASKETS OF KNOWLEDGE
The Archive of the Heavens
In the traditional learning of the North, Rev. Māori Marsden was taught that wisdom isn't something we just make up as we go along. Instead, it is something we "receive" from a higher place. He spoke often about the journey of Tāne to the highest heaven to bring back three baskets of knowledge, known as Ngā Kete o te Wānanga. These weren't just old stories to Marsden, they were like layers of data that help us understand how the universe works. He saw them as the "software" we need to manage our lives and our land here in Taitokerau.
Kete Tuauri: The Data of the Unseen
The first basket is Kete Tuauri. This contains the knowledge of the unseen world. It’s the realm of patterns, memories, and all the possibilities that haven't happened yet. In our way of thinking, this is the "deep code" of the universe. It’s the spiritual blueprint that sits underneath everything we see. When we pray or focus our intentions, we are interacting with this layer of data. By understanding Kete Tuauri, we realise that everything starts as a spiritual seed before it becomes a physical reality.
Kete Tuatea: The Data of the World We See
The second basket is Kete Tuatea. This is the data for the physical world, the "World of Light" that we walk in every day. It contains the rules for how the stars move, how plants grow, and how our bodies work. Marsden taught that this layer is full of the Creator’s logic. While the modern world often treats the physical earth like a dead machine, Kete Tuatea reminds us that the material world is sacred because it is built from the patterns found in the unseen world.
Kete Aronui: The Data of Wisdom and Love
The third basket is Kete Aronui. This is the knowledge of how we apply what we know to create a good life. It’s about human relations, creativity, and the "operating manual" for how to live in peace. This basket is focused on how we use our mana to build others up rather than tearing them down. It’s about prioritising the well-being of the whole community. In our transition to a better society, this is the layer of data that helps us fix the soil and stop the leaks in our whānau.
The Source of All Truth
Marsden was clear that these baskets weren't just floating around on their own. They come directly from the Source. He identified Ihu (Yeshua's name in the Paipera Tapu) as the one who provides the clear signal for all three layers of knowledge. He is the Logos, the living Word that ensures the information in our "baskets" stays true and doesn't get corrupted by the "BS" of the world. When we stay connected to Him, we have access to the highest fidelity wisdom possible.
Asking for the Right Signal
The Ethiopian Orthodox Bible reminds us that if we want to understand these layers of reality, we simply need to ask the Source:
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Ethiopian Orthodox Bible (James 1:5)
Original Ge'ez Text:
Direct Ge'ez to Te Reo Māori Translation: Ki te mea he hapa te whakaaro nui i tētahi o koutou, me tono ia ki te Atua, e hōmai nui nei ki te katoa, kāore hoki ana tawai; ā, ka hōmai ki a ia.
Filling Our Kete in the North
To lead the world toward a better future, we must reclaim our ancestral mind and fill our kete with the right data. We cannot rely on the broken "Babylonian" software that only cares about profit. We need the deep patterns of the unseen, the physical laws of the land, and the wisdom of love and equity. As we act as the navigators of Taitokerau, we are proving that a community grounded in these three baskets of knowledge can be a "shining light" of peace and goodwill for everyone.
