THE WOVEN UNIVERSE #907 - NON-LOCAL CONNECTION: WHANAUNGATANGA AS THE LAW OF ENTANGLEMENT

A Single Weave

In the traditions of Te Whare Wānanga o Tai Tokerau, Rev. Māori Marsden was trained to see the world differently than the way we are taught in modern schools. Through the lineage of the great navigator Nukutawhiti, who brought the Ngātokimatawhaorua waka to our shores, Marsden learned that the universe is not just a bunch of separate pieces. Instead, he saw a singular, dynamic weave. He described this as the Woven Universe, where every strand is connected to every other strand. In our research, we recognise this sacred law of connection as Whanaungatanga.

More Than Family

Many people think of Whanaungatanga as just "family relations" or getting together for a hui. But for a navigator, it is a physical law. It is the truth that nothing exists by itself. Your whakapapa is not just a list of names on a piece of paper, it is a map of how you are tangled up with the stars, the land, the water, and every other living thing. When we understand this, we realise that we are never truly alone and that our actions here in the North have an impact across the entire world.

The Science of Connection

Modern science is finally catching up with what our tūpuna always knew. Scientists have discovered something called "quantum entanglement." This is when two tiny particles become so deeply linked that they share the same existence. Even if you move them to opposite sides of the universe, what happens to one happens instantly to the other. This "non-local" connection is exactly what Marsden was talking about when he taught us about Whanaungatanga. It proves that the "machine error" of thinking we are all separate individuals is a dangerous mistake.

Ending the Illusion

When we believe we are separate, we start to treat the land like a supermarket and our neighbors like strangers. This is the "leaky bucket" of the old system, where we extract and take until there is nothing left. But when we realise we are entangled with the soil and the sea, we start to prioritise the health of the whole. We realise that if the river is sick, we are sick. By reclaiming this ancestral mind, we stop the leaks in our society and start building an "Economic Pā" that looks after everyone.

The Master Node

This massive web of connection isn't just floating in space. It has a center. Marsden was clear that Ihu (Yeshua's name in the Paipera Tapu) is the central point that holds every strand together. He is the master node in the network. He ensures that the connections remain strong and that the information flowing through the weave is pure. When we align our lives with Ihu (Yeshua's name in the Paipera Tapu), we aren't just joining a religion, we are plugging back into the very logic that sustains the entire universe.

The Holding Power

The Ethiopian Orthodox Bible tells us about this incredible power that keeps all things connected and in place:

"And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist." Ethiopian Orthodox Bible (Colossians 1:17)

Original Ge'ez Text: ወውእቱ፡ ቅድመ፡ ኵሉ፡ ወኵሉ፡ በሕሊናሁ፡ ይቀውም።

Direct Ge'ez to Te Reo Māori Translation: Ā, kei mua ia i ngā mea katoa, ā, nāna hoki ngā mea katoa i mau ai.

A Thriving North

By understanding Whanaungatanga as a law of the universe, we can lead the transition to a better society. We can prove that a community built on connection and love is stronger than one built on competition and greed. Taitokerau has the chance to be a shining light, showing the rest of the world how to live as part of the Woven Universe. We are the navigators of this new age, and it is time for us to weave a future of abundance, peace, and goodwill for all mankind.
