THE WOVEN UNIVERSE #912 - WOVEN DESTINY: INTEGRATING THE WORLDVIEW FOR MAURI ORA
The Final Strand
As we come to the end of this series on the life’s work of Rev. Māori Marsden, we find ourselves looking at the big picture. Marsden, a proud son of Awanui who was raised in Waimanoni, spent his life showing us that our destiny isn't about escaping the world or waiting for a better one after we pass. Instead, it is about weaving our lives into the divine pattern right here and now. He showed us that as Tāngata whenua, we have a unique role to play in the North, managing the deep connection between the heavens and the earth.
Bringing the Boxes Together
The Woven Universe is not just a nice theory; it is a call for us to take action in our communities. Marsden taught us that we have to stop living in a fragmented way where we keep science, spirituality, and culture in separate boxes. That kind of thinking is what leads to the political "BS" and the "leaky bucket" where our resources and life force just drain away. True maturity means integrating everything we know. We have to bring together the deep patterns of the unseen, the physical laws of our land and sea, and the wisdom of how to live together in peace.
The Three Strands of Wisdom
When we weave the three baskets of knowledge together, we move into a state of abundance.
The Unseen (Kete Tuauri): We recognise the massive potential that sits waiting in our region.
The Physical (Kete Tuatea): We manage our environment and our businesses with real-world skill.
The Applied (Kete Aronui): We use our mana to ensure everyone is looked after and equity is the priority.
In Taitokerau, this is how we "fix the soil." We stop just trying to grow for the sake of growth and instead prioritse the well-being of the whole whānau.
The Omega Point
Marsden recognised that this entire weave has a final destination. He saw Ihu (Yeshua's name in the Paipera Tapu) as the "Omega Point", the one toward which all creation is moving. He is the high-fidelity signal that allows us to find our place in the pattern. Ihu is the one who reconciles the broken strands of our history and our relationships, weaving them back into a state of wholeness. Our destiny is to be fully aligned with Him, acting as his agents of peace and Mauri Ora in the world.
The First and Last
Ihu spoke clearly about being the one who holds the beginning and the end of the weave together:
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last." Ethiopian Orthodox Bible (Revelation 22:13)
Original Ge'ez Text: አነ፡ ውእቱ፡ አልፋ፡ ወኦ፡ ቀዳሚ፡ ወደኃሪ፡ መጀመሪያ፡ ወመጨረሻ።
Direct Ge'ez to Te Reo Māori Translation: Ko ahau te Arapa, te Omeka, te tīmatanga, te whakamutunga, te tuatahi, te whakamutunga.
Reclaiming the Vision in the North
The legacy of Rev. Māori Marsden gives us the "software" we need to transform our region. We no longer have to live in the "machine error" of thinking everything is scarce and separate. We have the map, we have the protocols of Tapu to protect what is sacred, and we have the authority of Mana to make a change. By honouring the life force of our environment and the dignity of our people, we are proving that the North can be a "shining light" to the rest of the world.
The Continuous Weave
The Woven Universe is a continuous creation, and every one of us is a weaver. Every thought, every prayer, and every act of looking after our land is a strand in the tapestry of our future. As we move forward, let’s carry the wisdom of the Navigator from Waimanoni. Let’s be a people who manage the field with integrity and find our ultimate purpose in the arms of the Cosmic Weaver. The destiny of the North is Mauri Ora, total flourishing life for all.
