THE ALPHA FREQUENCY #711 - THE SOURCE OF THE SIGNAL: IHU’S TEACHINGS ON PAI AND KINO
Checking the Signal
Kia ora whānau. Today we are looking at the very heart of how we live. In a world that often focuses on judging people from the outside, Ihu (Yeshua’s name in the Paipera Tapu) taught that the true source of everything we do is found deep within our own hearts. If we want to change the results we see in our lives, we have to start by fixing the internal signal of our inner world.
Your Inner Storehouse
Ihu described the heart as a storehouse or a cupboard. In our culture, we call this the Ngākau, the place where our emotions, thoughts, and true character live. Whatever you choose to focus on is what you are stocking in your storehouse.
Pai (Good): This describes something that is useful, beneficial, and full of life. When you fill your heart with helpful and kind thoughts, you are storing up Pai. This brings order and peace to your life.
Kino (Bad): This describes something that is broken, useless, or destructive. When you fill your heart with the confusion, stress, and negativity of the world, you are storing up Kino. This is like radio static that makes you feel lost and drained.
The Ethiopian Bible explains this storehouse clearly:
"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things." (Matthew 12:35, Ethiopian Bible English Version)
Original Source (Ge'ez): ኄር ሰው እምሠናይ መዝገበ ልቡ ያወፅእ ሠናያተ፤ ወእኩይ ሰው እምእኩይ መዝገበ ልቡ ያወፅእ እኩያተ።
Te Reo Māori: Ko te tangata pai, i roto i te taonga pai o te ngākau, e whakaputa ana i nga mea pai: ko te tangata kino hoki, i roto i te taonga kino, e whakaputa ana i nga mea kino.
Protecting Your Peace
One of the most powerful things Ihu taught was how to handle Kino, or bad energy, from others. He said we should not fight back with more bad energy. Instead, we show radical grace. This is not being weak, it is about protecting your own peace so that other people’s static does not get into your own storehouse.
This radical love includes everyone, including our rainbow whānau, our neighbors sleeping rough, and people from all walks of life. By keeping our internal signal set to Pai, we stay useful and beneficial to our community, no matter what is happening around us.
Practical Daily Steps
1. Check Your Stock: Ask yourself, "What am I storing in my heart today? Is it a clear, useful signal (Pai) or just noise (Kino)?"
2. Tune Your Focus: If you feel stressed or negative, take a moment to refocus on thoughts that are kind and helpful.
3. Choose Grace: If someone is unkind, stay tuned to your own peace. Do not let their static change your internal signal.
