The Power to Choose
In our previous talk, we looked at how humans are meant to be active participants in the world. We have been given a special tool for this called Mana. In the "Woven Universe," Mana is much more than just a title or a reputation. It is the authority given to us by Io to choose which possible future becomes our physical reality.
A World of Possibilities
Think of the world around us as a "weave" of many different outcomes that could happen. At any moment, there are many ways the future could go, some lead to life and others lead to decay. In science, they say that all these possibilities exist as "maybes" until someone steps in to observe them and make a choice.
Our Mana is the spiritual power that takes these "maybes" and makes them real. When we act with a clear goal, with prayer, and with a strong vision, we are using our Mana to settle the world into a specific state.
Life or Decay: The Big Choice
We have been given a massive responsibility. Every day, through what we say and what we do, we are choosing which future we want to see in Taitokerau. We have two main paths:
Decay (Mauri Mate): This is when we choose a future based on fear, selfishness, or just taking what we can. This leads to a loss of energy and a breakdown in our community.
Flourishing (Mauri Ora): This is when we choose a future based on care, truth, and connection. This leads to an abundance of life force and a thriving region.
Moving Past Scarcity
For a long time, we have been told a "bad story" that says the North is a place of scarcity and lack. This old way of looking at things only sees our land as something to be mined or used up. Because people have focused on this "lack" for so long, it has become a reality that keeps repeating itself.
But our mission is higher than that. We are called to stop observing scarcity and start observing the infinite abundance that the Creator has provided for us.
Our Mission in the North
The mission of Mana is not to grab power for ourselves. It is about using our influence to make sure the world stays healthy and full of life. When we focus on things like local energy, supporting our own people, and staying connected, we literally bring those good realities into being.
In Taitokerau, our mission is to stop being passive. We can no longer just accept whatever happens to us. We are the ones who must observe the potential for abundance and use our Mana to make it real. The future of a thriving land is waiting to be chosen.
