THE PURE SOURCE #147 - THE VERTICAL AXIS: AWAKENING THE DIVINE LIFE FORCE WITHIN

The vertical alignment

When we stand on the whenua here in Taitokerau, we are positioned between two great realities - the deep soil beneath our feet and the expansive heavens above. This is the vertical axis of our existence. For too long, our spiritual lives have been treated as something purely intellectual, a matter of reading books or following rigid rules. But true spiritual life is an awakening of an internal current, a sacred life force that flows directly through the centre of who we are, connecting our roots to our highest calling.

The internal fountains

Before the arrival of modern institutions, ancient cultures understood that the human body is designed to host a massive reservoir of divine presence. In the ancient books of the Ethiopian tradition, this internal awakening is described as a fountain of righteousness and wisdom that opens up within a person, overflowing to bless the entire community.

"And there I saw the fountain of righteousness which was inexhaustible, and around it were many fountains of wisdom." - 1 Enoch 48:1 (Ethiopian Orthodox Bible)

The fire of awakening

This internal reservoir is not meant to sit dormant. When we look at the historical events of Pentecost, we see a dramatic demonstration of what happens when Wairua Tapu fills a human being. The "Tongues of Fire" that rested upon the heads of the believers represent the final activation of this internal current. This sacred fire matches what other ancient cultures call the awakening of latent internal energy. It is a rising current of power that starts at the foundation of our physical bodies and lifts us up into divine authority.

A teaching from Ihu

This transformation is exactly what was intended for us from the very beginning, bringing a holy disruption to systems of stagnation.

Building our personal mana

When this divine fire is kindled within us, it completely changes our personal mana. It takes us out of a state of survival and places us into a position of grassroots agency. We stop waiting for external systems to change and we start realising our true potential. This internal alignment is the absolute foundation for fixing the root causes of the issues facing our whānau. A person who is aligned vertically, connected to the Pure Source, cannot be easily manipulated or discouraged by political empty promises.

The light of the North

As we normalise this understanding of the Wairua Tapu across Taitokerau, we are building a collective movement of compassion and sustainability. This is how we transition to a better society. By focusing on the awakening of our people, we ensure that our local action is backed by genuine spiritual power. The North can truly become a shining light to the rest of the world, showing that a community rooted in peace, love, and balanced spiritual energy can live together just as we were meant to.
