Uncovering Hidden Historical Roots

This reflective insight is a bit of a departure from my usual focus on regional economics and quantum physics, but at its heart, it is entirely connected. Our research into the colonial operating system is about understanding how communities were disempowered to allow extraction and control. While I readily acknowledge that I am not entirely qualified to speak on all aspects of this topic given that I am not a woman, it is an issue I feel compelled to bring to light on this forum.

When we look back at the European witch trials between 1450 and 1750, pop culture tells us stories of broomsticks, black cats, and dark magic. But historical research, including the work of scholars like Silvia Federici and journalist Lucianne Tonti, reveals a far more calculated reality. The witch hunts were never really about magic. They were a systematic effort to disenchant the world, stripping nature of its sacred life force so it could be dominated, enclosed, and exploited.

The Breath of Life

In the quiet of a Taitokerau morning, before the world wakes up to the noise of the daily grind, there is a moment of pure clarity. The Broken System Blockage

For too long, we’ve been told that health is just a private, individual matter or a line item in a government budget spreadsheet. This comes from a major mistake, treating people like separate parts in a cold machine. If a part breaks down, the system tries to fix it completely on its own, totally ignoring the toxic environment or stressful conditions it is planted in. In this broken system, we view health as something to be managed by far-off experts in city buildings, usually long after the damage has already been done. This model creates deep disorder, leaving our people lonely, stressed, and disconnected from the very things that give them life.

The Hard Truth

We need to have a very honest kōrero about the numbers facing us in Te Tai Tokerau. For generations, our whānau have been waiting for the "Big Settlement" to arrive, hoping it will be the answer to our struggles. But the forensic reports are in, and the truth is sobering. The actual value of the land and resources stripped from our tūpuna exceeds $20 billion. That is the real debt. Yet, the Crown is offering a settlement likely between $500 million and $800 million. We have to be candid: this is not a rescue package, it is pennies on the dollar.

The Fiscal Envelope BS

The Crown uses fancy language like "Fiscal Envelopes" and "relativity clauses" to justify these small numbers. In reality, it is a political game designed to keep the status quo. If we think that $800 million, managed by a few centralised boards in the city, is going to fix the deep-rooted poverty in our region, we are falling for a "bad explanation." If we just pour that money into the same broken "Babylonian" system we live in now, it will leak out of the North faster than it arrives.
